CEREC Technology for Same Day Teeth
November 6th, 2014

Teeth restorations such as fillings and crowns are used to bring back the good appearance and health of damaged teeth. Conventional treatments with crowns and fillings used to take a few days or weeks to be completed, since these procedures involved sending a patient’s teeth impressions to an offsite dental laboratory. While the dental restorations are being created, patients often have to deal with a temporary restoration which can be uncomfortable to use. Nowadays, a new technology is available which makes it possible for teeth fillings and crowns to be ready and usable within the same day of the dental appointment.

CEREC 3D technology makes it possible for you to restore damaged teeth in just one dental appointment – while you wait inside the London Dental Studio clinic. This technology is used for treatments such as inlays & onlays, dental crowns, and permanent white fillings. A milling machine is used to create the restorations within the same day of your dental appointment, eliminating the need to wait for a few days or weeks before you can start enjoying your improved smile.

The CEREC technology uses an intraoral digital camera to capture images of your teeth, and the inside of your mouth. This means that you do not have to deal with bulky dental moulds that can be very uncomfortable when placed inside the mouth. The images obtained by the intraoral camera are loaded into a medical-grade computer; the dentist will then use CAD/CAM software to design and create the permanent white fillings, tooth-coloured crowns, inlays and onlays to restore your smile.
