Discreet Orthodontics with Lingual Braces
August 31st, 2014

Crooked teeth problems affect not only the appearance of the smile, but its normal function as well. If you have crooked teeth, you may find it difficult to clean teeth that are overlapping or crowded – and these teeth will be more prone to dental problems such as tooth decay. The appearance of your smile can also be significantly affected by even one or a few crooked teeth, as the crookedness can make your smile look unhealthy or unattractive.

Orthodontic treatments work in straightening the teeth to improve the aesthetics and function of the smile. However, conventional orthodontics often use clearly visible metal wires and brackets that are uncomfortable, and can cause a great deal of embarrassment for the wearer (especially adult orthodontic patients). Discreet orthodontic treatments are now offered for those who wish to have their teeth straightened in an inconspicuous manner, and one of these methods is through the use of lingual braces.

Lingual braces are placed at the back portion of your teeth (the surfaces closer to the tongue, as opposed to the outer surface closer to the lips). The position of the lingual braces makes them invisible to other people, so the teeth straightening treatment can proceed without other people knowing that you are having an orthodontic treatment. You can enjoy all the benefits of having straighter teeth without going through the embarrassment of having a smile full of metal parts!
