In an implant treatment, the accurate images obtained through a CT scanner also helps the dentist in determining the type of implant to be used corresponding to the patient’s anatomy & requirements, and whether there is sufficient bone structure to support the placement of the dental implant.
CT scans are also used as preparation for other dental treatments, such as orthodontic braces to solve crooked teeth, and advanced oral surgery. Dental CT scans also produce a much lower dose of radiation compared to conventional x-ray machines.
